One of traditional Singapore breakfast is “Half boiled egg” right?
It normally comes with Kaya toast and Kopi (I like this breakfast set…😆)
We have Japanese version of it which called 温泉卵 (Onsen tamago)!!
It called “Onsen” (= Hot spring) ♨️ because original onsen tamago is actually cooked inside onsen water.haha
But of course not everyone has own onsen 😂… so we make it in the pot normally.
Key point of Onsen tamago is the sauce. It must be Japanese style
< Onsen tamago sauce >
- Shiro Dashi liquid : 1 tablespoon
- Mentsuyu (jp noodle sauce) : 1 tablespoon
- Mirin : 1 tablespoon
Water : 3 tablespoons
1, All mix together and boiled once.
2, After cracked egg into small bowl, pour sauce on top.

🥚 Egg itself you can be using Singapore style half boiled egg also can!

1, Boiled a pot of water. (Water level must be nough to cover whole egg)
2, Stop fire and gently throw whole egg into it. (Egg from fridge!)
3, Wait for 6-8mins. That’s it👌
Something similar to Singapore style .. you should just try it once.
